Mr Shaggy had been looking for a place of his own but he hadn’t been able to find his ideal property. I was unfamiliar with this part of Victoria but I hunted around online anyway. RealEstate.com.au became my first stop every morning.
I spotted a likely looking property one day. It seemed to have everything he was looking for – a house (nothing flash) and lots of land. The best part of it all was that it was affordable.
On paper (or screen) it didn’t look much so Mr Shaggy kept searching. He inspected a few properties but they weren’t quite right. One day he rang me and said he’d found the ideal place. He sent me the link so I could take a look. It was the property I’d spotted a few weeks earlier.
Mr Shaggy arranged and inspection and bought the place on the spot. I swear the place was waiting for us.
So that’s how Mr Shaggy came to be at this place. A few months later I moved up to join him and Shaggy Creek was officially born.
It’s nothing flash. We have a typical holiday cabin style of house which had been tenanted for years. It hadn’t been updated in all that time, by the looks of it. There’s different carpet in each room and each piece would date from the late 60s. Charming. There are no cupboards for storage and no insulation.
Yet Shaggy Creek has a charm all its own. Come back and read some more, and I’ll introduce you to the verandah…
